Marvel’s Venom Earns its Box Office Success

Marvel’s newest movie, Venom was released on October 5, and in the last few weeks has already made a worldwide $500 million at the box office.

Venom is an alien symbiote, a liquid-like form.  This symbiote requires a human host for survival.  When the symbiote is combined with the human host, then it bestows its enhanced powers to the host.

After three weeks in October have passed, people have made comments about the movie.  So far, people have felt in between, meaning that people didn’t think the movie was bad or amazing, but good as any Marvel movie.  Rotten Tomatoes has Venom ranked as a 30% on the Tomatometer.  However, these negative comments have not kept people from seeing the film.

The movie is about a San Francisco journalist named Eddie Brock, played by Tom Hardy.  He gained superpowers from an alien symbiote whose species plan on invading Earth.  In San Francisco, there is an organization called Life.  Carlton Drake, played by Riz Ahmed, is the LIFE organization leader.  He did experiments with the alien symbiotes combining and interacting them with human beings.  The issue with this experiment is that Carlton Drake has used many humans as test subjects. Many of these people end up dying from the alien symbiotes.  Eddie Brock has become Venom’s human host later in the movie.  They’ll team up and try to take down Carlton Drake.

Before seeing the showing of Venom, personal expectations were low.  Superhero movies are fun to watch whether or not you’re a big superhero movie guy.  I can recall that the most recent Marvel movie that I saw was Spider-Man: Homecoming. The Moeller Crusader spoke with senior Sam Kastner to get his thoughts about the movie Venom.

He explained his opinions on the film saying, “My favorite part of the movie was the final scene.  I felt that the acting from Tom Hardy could have been better.”  Sam also mentions, “What I liked about Venom is how invincible he is.  I would like to say that the first half of the movie is scary.”  Though his feelings towards the film were mixed, Kastner advised waiting until the end, “People should wait until the very end of the movie to see the carnage.”

When watching Venom, the plot was something that kept me hooked all the way.  It’s interesting how LIFE leader Carlton Drake believes in combining alien symbiotes with people so that humans aren’t disposable.  He wants to create a new species base on his belief about the world and humans.

The main thing that make Marvel movies incredible are the action scenes.  Venom had a great car chasing scene where Eddie Brock being chased by Carlton Drake’s men.  There were other scenes where Venom attacks people by eating people’s heads.  Overall, the action scenes were impressive.

For the people out there that are interested in seeing this movie.  It is worth your time.  You’ll be experiencing some marvelous action and an interesting plot for the story.  The movie is so great that I want to go relive the day all over again.  Go see Venom now before it stops showing in theaters and hear all the movie spoilers out there.

Overall, The Moeller Crusader rates Venom a 4 out of 5.
