Loki Season 1 Sets Up Marvel for an Entirely New Phase

Loki has shocked viewers and has become one of the best Marvel series to date. Loki gives us humor, romance, action, and all that one would expect from a new Marvel series. Not only does Loki give us these traits, but it also establishes a new power in the universe that is far beyond any power that we have ever seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Season 1 begins with Loki escaping away from The Avenger’s grasp and ends up in a dry vast desert. He ends up in the Time Variance Authority’s (who is outside of time itself) hands after creating a branch timeline off of the main timeline. Loki begins to be tried by Judge Ravonna Renslayer and was sentenced to be pruned but was saved by Agent Mobius M. Mobius needs Loki to help him find a variant of himself that is attacking the TVA. Loki agrees and they go on a huge goose chase where they finally find the variant and it is a girl named Sylvie Laufeydottir. He begins woking with Sylvie to take down the TVA.

Loki and Sylvie go on their hunt and find their way back in the TVA’s headquarters but realize that it is all a sham. Loki and Sylvie are vaporized by the TVA and end up in another realm where the TVA banishes all their trash and victims.

Here they find even more variants of Loki. The world’s biggest guard dog, Alioth, is in this dimension sweeping up and killing everything in its sight. Loki and Syvlie realize it is guarding something and use their powers to get into its mind. They succeed and they enter a floating house on a giant rock with a ring of flowing energy surrounding it. They enter the house and meet “He Who Remains”. He explains the TVA makes sure that there is one flowing timeline, and no other timelines exist.

As Sylvie begins to anger, she pushed Loki through a portal back to the TVA while she jabs a dagger in “He Who Remains” heart. Chaos begins as the main timeline starts creating millions of branches. The creation of the multiverse has begun.

Review

In my opinion, I found all the actors that played serious roles in this show portrayed their parts well. Tom Hiddleston plays Loki in a fascinating way that makes us love the villain. He shows the charm, mischievousness, and the greediness that we want from Loki, the god of mischief.

Another actor who I am very excited about is Jonathan Majors, who plays “He Who Remains”. He was only present in the last episode but the way he portrays this character leaves the audience wanting more. We will be seeing him in lots of upcoming Marvel films and in Loki season 2. I am very excited to see him play the new villain in upcoming Marvel phase.

Kevin Feige the president of Marvel Studios had this to say about Loki: “It’s tremendously important. It perhaps will have more impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe than any of the shows thus far.” Feige is the person that plans and has the final say of what direction the MCU will take. He tells us that Loki has a huge impact on what will be shown on screen in future Marvel films. Feige did not plan on Loki to be some standalone popular show. Loki was planned to have a huge impact on the MCU.

Loki can be seen as a very confusing show if you have not watched Endgame or have no knowledge of the MCU at all. I have watched every Marvel movie and did lots of research about the show to clear up any questions I had. Now I think I know a lot about the show and can answer a lot of questions for people who have not seen it.

Reviews on Loki have been very good, and all have high ratings. A 92% on Rotten Tomatoes 8.3/10 on IMDb and 8/10 IGN. It’s generated reviews such as, “The show delivers on its promise, on fans’ expectations, and on its links to the grander MCU canvas” and “Clever, bold and flat out fascinating, Loki sets a new bar for Disney+ shows.” This shows how people recognize the value of this show and how people are super excited for the future.

A big thing that stands out in the show Loki is the ending. The whole time when watching the show, you would never expect what is going to happen or who was going to be the person at the end of time controlling the TVA. When you get there and start to realize what is happening, your mind is blown and you want more. The show provides a whole new phase for the Marvel Universe and after the ending of the season it leaves you wanting answers and questioning what is in store for Marvel.

Loki really does create new opportunities for Marvel, and we will get to see these new opportunities in the upcoming movies Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
