FIFA Club Makes It Way into the Halls of Moeller
By Jack Regruth
Eli Turner (23) is bringing his passion for FIFA Soccer to Moeller High School. Starting this week, FIFA Club will be open to members of all skill levels, offering upper and underclassman leagues. The FIFA Club is already becoming one of the most popular clubs at Moeller.
FIFA Soccer is an insanely popular video game available on all consoles. It is the most popular soccer game in the world as it represents all teams from FC Barcelona to our very own FC Cincinnati. It is an easy game to learn with simple controls and a very enjoyable gameplay. The only thing better than playing the game is playing it with your Moeller friends.
The interest at Moeller for FIFA and other e-sporting events is huge. People love NBA 2K, Madden, NHL, and especially FIFA. With the new FIFA 23 game’s recent release, there is a lot of excitement for the massive improvements over the past year.
Turner has organized this new club, so anyone at Moeller can learn and play the game. There are around forty students who have already joined with more waiting to join next month.
The club will function with teams of two people that change monthly. There will be weekly matchups between the teams, and they will be structured so every team has one person who owns the game and one who doesn’t. The goal is for students to play at one team member’s house against their opponent. This is a great way for students of all grades to meet new people and spend time together doing something fun.
The game assignments will come out every Monday and scores are due by Sunday night, emailed or texted to Turner. There will be a universal league each month, starting with the La Liga, then international teams, MLS, and so on. As you play each month, some of the senior club members will help keep a record of individual wins and losses. Standings will be kept and prizes awarded monthly, with a big prize at the end of the year.
The first month, the league will be somewhat experimental, so expect additional rules to emerge as the play continues.
Eli Turner, along with seniors Bo Fehrenbach, Sam Klosterman, Brady Cameron and Dwight Turner, will be in charge with Mr. Graham as the faculty sponsor. Feel free to email them or talk to them in person if you have any questions. FIFA Club is already off to a great start—come be a part of it!
