Ethan Moates
For Ethan Moates, second place isn’t a win, it’s a loss. With a mindset built around success, Ethan approaches everything from powerlifting to school with one goal, which is succeeding in it.
Ethan grew up in Loveland with his two sisters and brother. He enjoys hanging out with his family. Ethan has always had a very close relationship with his younger brother Eli. Him and Eli like to jump on the trampoline and mess around in the yard. Throughout high school, he has found plenty of ways to stay busy. He competes in powerlifting and previously ran cross country, two sports that are very different, but both require a good mindset and hard work. Powerlifting has become very important to Ethan, and it is one of the things that stands out most about him.
When he isn’t lifting or doing schoolwork, Ethan spends most of his weekends working at Hometown Cafe. He is also involved at Moeller in the debate team and takes AP classes, showing that his successful mindset extends beyond sports. Even with his busy schedule, Ethan makes time for things he enjoys, including watching the Bengals and doing things he enjoys like traveling.
One of his favorite experiences that he had was when he went on a trip to El Salvador, where he unfortunately got food poisoning. Even though this happened Ethan still enjoys traveling. For example, when he traveled to Mexico, it was much more enjoyable. Swimming around, scuba diving, and exploring history was truly an adventure for him.
Between powerlifting, school, and work, Ethan stays busy and continues to work on himself. His mindset is best said by him in his own, “If you’re not winning, you’re losing.” For Ethan, there is always another way to be better.
