How’s it going everyone? I am Jackman Land and I’m a senior at Moeller High School, and this is my journalism bio. When I sat down with Mr. John Ward to schedule my classes at the end of the year, he ran me through all the options for English class. When I saw journalism, I was pretty excited due to the fact that I could actually write about stuff I enjoy unlike English classes prior to this year. I’m a pretty complex man but I’ll try to give you guys the Sparknotes of my life.
I grew up in a smaller town about thirty minutes away from Moeller called Fairfield. Ever since I was a youngster, I’ve always been a very family-oriented person. I have three older siblings, a 21-year-old sister, and two 24-year-old and 27-year-old brothers. Luckily my two brothers went to Moeller, and I just followed in their footsteps. I’m proud to say that we all went to the best school in the country.
At Moeller I have been pretty good at getting involved but there is always more room to improve with everything that goes on here. Throughout my first three years at Moeller I have played soccer all three years, played volleyball freshman and sophomore year and most recently played rugby in the spring of my junior year. I unfortunately had a real nasty trip-and-fall during rugby practice and ended up tearing my meniscus. That injury put me out of sports for the rest of my high school career.
Luckily, I still do lots more around Moeller. I am the Zaragoza House captain and a proud member of Coach Poke’s Ping Pong and Badminton club. However, there is a lot more to me than just what people see at Moeller.
There are tons of things that I love to do after school hours that lots of people don’t know about. For example, I’m a somewhat of a big gamer so if anyone is looking to lose in FIFA, just let me know. I am also a big sports fan so you will often hear me talk about all the local teams. However, as I said earlier, I am very close to my family, so most nights you will see me spending time with them either watching movies, playing bored games, or just having nice meal.
You guys can all expect me to write about a large variety of topics throughout the semester. As I stated earlier some of my favorite things are sports, movies, and all things Moeller. So be sure to expect big blockbuster movie reviews, coverage on the fall and winter sports seasons, and pretty much all other major events that will be going on throughout Moeller.
As my high school career is coming to a close I’m still not entirely sure where the next chapter in my life will end up, However I do know that wherever I’ll be it will be close enough to come back and visit Moeller often because I’m definitely going to miss this place.
