New Teacher Profile: Mr. Weinandy
One of Moeller’s newest teachers is Mr. Weinandy, who teaches CP1 Chemistry, AP Physics, and Freshman Religion. He goes on record saying that his FAVORITE class is his mentor group.
Mr. Weinandy taught at multiple other schools before landing at Moeller. Previously, he taught at St John’s Jesuit in Toledo, Ohio as well as St John Bosco in Bellflower, California. He taught the same subjects he teaches at Moeller now, plus Biology.
In addition to teaching in California, Mr. Weinandy also studied there and got his masters there. After attending John Carrol University, he traveled to Loyola Marymount to complete his masters. California was nice, but according to Mr. Weinandy, he moved back to the Midwest because he liked the weather. “The greatest part of teaching is the snow days” says Mr. Weinandy. “We didn’t get those in California. I like weather.” He also said he got bored of the lack of variety and moved back to the Midwest to both be near his family and experience a variety of weather again.
One hobby that Mr. Weinandy enjoys is cooking. Not only does he enjoy exploring international cuisine, but he also finds it one of the most proficient uses of his time. “Since cooking is generally healthier and cheaper, and since you must eat every day, you can use time you’d usually use for a hobby to do a chore at the same time.” Mr. Weinandy is a huge fan of soup as well, specifically French onion soup with a side of buttered bread to soak it in.
Music-wise, Mr. Weinandy enjoys a variety of different genres. Specifically, he enjoys old country, indie rock, folk and bluegrass. His favorite bands and artists consist of Pete Seeger and The Mountain Goats.
Mr. Weinandy’s favorite color is forest green, but any kind of earth tone is acceptable to him. Also, he enjoys lighter scents like linen, nature, pine, and his personal top pick of lemongrass.
To close up on life facts about Mr. Weinandy, he is a traditionalist when it comes to drinks. He enjoys black coffee or coffee with a little bit of cream, always hot. Finally, his top three favorite candies are Heath bars, Swedish Fish, and Twix.
In conclusion, Mr. Weinandy, while being new to the Moeller family, brings a lot of his personal flair into his teaching and is a phenomenal addition to our brotherhood and Marianist society.
