Make a Change with the Moeller Change Race
The Change Race is one of the service programs that Moeller offers to serve the community. It was initiated by Mrs. Matuszek, who thought Moeller could have a fun competition to raise money for charity. A large 5-gallon bottle is placed for each house: Trinity, Quiroga, Zaragoza, Zehler, Pillar, and Eveslage. These bottles are located in front of the main office, where people can drop spare change into them while walking by. Each Moeller house competes to raise the most money. The winner of the race earns house points, bringing them closer to winning the Marianists Cup. Last year, the Change Race raised $2,789.42, with every dollar going directly to a non-profit organization. In previous years, the funds have supported various charities that provide essential services, including food aid, educational support, and community development. The impact of these donations has been significant, helping to improve lives across the region.
This year, Moeller selected a non-profit organization called Operation Give Back (OGB), where all the money raised will go to support our community. OGB is located in Blue Ash, only 10 minutes from Moeller. “At Operation Give Back, our mission is to strive for educational equity and provide community outreach to students and families in need, inspiring all to realize their full potential and GIVE BACK to society” (OGB’s Mission Statement).
OGB’s main program is the After School Tutoring and Mentoring Program, where they work with Sycamore Community Schools to help 1st through 8th-grade students who need extra academic and mentoring support. Every year, they enroll about 45 students, many of whom are transported by Sycamore District buses to the 6,000 sq. ft. space for two hours of tutoring three days a week. Volunteers help students improve their grades, build self-confidence, and develop life skills to help them in college and their future careers.
In addition to tutoring, OGB operates a large food pantry, providing crucial support to families in Blue Ash, Montgomery, Sharonville, Sycamore Township, and Symmes. The pantry offers food, household items, and personal care products to ensure that families have access to necessities during difficult times.
The annual Change Race has already begun, and we need your help! This event makes a meaningful impact every year, and we want you to keep the momentum going. Bring in your spare change and drop it in the bucket to support the community. Every coin counts—let’s make a difference as a school.
