Logan Duncomb Nominated For McDonalds All American
We have a man of Moeller, Logan Duncomb, who was recently presented with a prestigious honor of being nominated to be a McDonalds’s All-American. Logan is a senior this year on the Moeller basketball team who are presently the District final winners. He had 19 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in this district win against Miamisburg. The honor of being a candidate for this McDonalds All – American team makes him one of Moeller’s elites. It has taken hard work, dedication, and the love of basketball to not only be recognized as one of the best high school players in America and Canada, but he has committed to a D1 basketball team for college, Indiana.
Logan said that for him to get noticed and nominated to be a McDonalds All American, “I was nominated by a couple coaches, my AAU coaches and coach Kremer. I found out that I was nominated via Twitter.”
Logan started playing basketball at the age of eight. He has played for a bunch of different AAU teams in Chicago, Columbus, and Indiana. Logan said, “I decided to go to Moeller because I didn’t like Mason, it was too big, and because Moeller was a very successful program with a lot of big-name players.” Logan also mentioned how joining Moeller has put him in a “brotherhood”. Logan is now standing at 6’10’’, averaging 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. Moeller’s #51 hopes to help his team reach state championship status once again.
According to lifetime friend and basketball teammate since 7th grade, Elijah Jackson, “As a teammate, Logan is very unselfish. Logan has a great motor. He never stops working. He goes after every rebound, every loose ball, and runs the floor great.” Elijah has always told himself that if Logan does the work, “the sky is the limit for him, and he has done just that.” Elijah and I both cannot wait to see what Logan does next year for Archie and the Hoosiers.
The McDonald's All-American Game is played every year with the top players from American and Canadian high school basketball graduates. The game is played after the high school basketball season. There is a three-point contest and a dunk contest before the one exhibition game played in an East vs. West format.
McDonalds selects 700 boys and girls from across the country to compete for greatness, one of which is Logan Duncomb. This group of competitive players is reduced until they get the top 48 in Canada and America.
Unfortunately, Logan did not make the final list of 48 players. Nevertheless, Logan is still one of the greatest players in the country at the high school level today.
This years’ McDonalds All American game is going to be a little bit different. According to Trent Stafford from, McDonald’s USA, due to the negative effects of Covid-19 “McDonald’s made the difficult decision to forego in-person Games after consulting with health and safety experts and will honor the 2021 class through a virtual celebration. This decision was made in the interest of protecting the health and safety of student athletes, their families and event staff.” It is a shame that we will not be able to watch the best in the country compete this year.
To give you an idea of what type of player you would see in the McDonalds All American game, you would know names like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and many more. These are the most well-known players to date, and they were given opportunities to play after high school in this McDonalds All American Game. To be selected at this type of level of play is an great honor. We are proud of Logan being nominated for the McDonalds All American game and lucky to have him on our team here at Moeller.
