The boys are buzzin'. After last season's cancellation due to Covid-19, the Moeller Track & Field team, led by Jason Crockett and 13 amazing seniors, look to achieve success this year.

Head coach Jason Crockett had a lot to say about the upcoming season. The big question heading into THIS season is how does the cancellation of last season have any impact on this years' team? Crockett answered, "We're excited. We have no idea what anyone else has, but we know we have a pretty solid team."

Crockett got excited talking about the long-term goals for this year’s squad, "I think they can win GCL, top 3 in the district, potential for a few of them to go onto state. It all just depends on how they run."

Crockett talked about the other teams to beat in the city and the district, "There is a lot of uncertainty going into the year, so every team is excited to get started…whichever teams comes out with the most excitement has the best chance."

Shotput and Discus coach Matthew Jackson talked about how competitive GCL teams usually are, “With last year’s season being cancelled, it is hard to fully predict how good everyone is…Each GCL team usually has areas that they are solid at.” Also talked about teams outside the GCL that are pretty good, “Mason, East, and Fairfield are teams to watch out for.”

Most of the seniors agreed with Crockett. Seniors Cole Davis and Freddie Sturgis tapped on the same idea of excitement. Although being sad that last season was cancelled, they did get a whole year to improve. Cole Davis has been working on his 200-meter dash and hopes for it to get to the low 22's.

Though the official captains of this year’s team are Seniors Adam Smith, Jacob Williams, Cole Davis, and Aaron Haas, Freddie Sturgis likes to refer to himself as "captain." Freddie Sturgis talked about his goals even though this is first-time doing Track & Field, "My goal as "captain" is to cheer the boys up to State."

The boys just finished their first meet at Northwest before spring break. Senior Adam Smith finished first in both of his events (Shot & Discus). Sophomore Jameson Maynes also had a great weekend finishing 1st and 2nd in his events. Senior Jacob Williams, Junior Brandon White, and Sophomores’ Tennel Bryant and Karell Davis finished first in their 4x100. Overall, the meet was a good start for the Crusaders taking the 2nd place finish.
