Coach Mark Elder and the football Crusaders started the season undefeated at 4-0. Coming off of Elder's first year, they look to secure the top spot in the GCL.

The team has started off 4-1 midway through the season with wins against: Lakota East (42-27), Chaminade Julienne (42-28), East Central (39-22), and Ironton (25-7). They had a tough lost last week against St. X at Nippert (49-16). The next couple of weeks they have a tough schedule coming up with games against Lasalle, Elder, St. Ignatius, and St. Eds.

After talking with Coach Elder, he stated his belief in the senior class and how they have taken tremendous leadership. He stated that the seniors have taken control of not only the team but, the little things like taking care of the locker room. "It has made us become a much more detailed team and they have taken ownership in that.” His main goal as a coach this season is to make sure his team fulfills their potential and play to the best of their ability.

This year’s Crusader Cavalry has had a huge effect on the atmosphere, and the hype of the games. Senior football captain Josh Kattus said the Cavalry has brought a lot of electricity and energy to the games and the team. Coach Elder said that the first game at Lakota East felt like a home game and it is what brought them to a win.

This year's team has a lot of talent and when asked who to watch, Coach Elder couldn’t decide. He said, "It's hard to single out a guy because you have a bunch of guys who can rotate in and out and perform how we want them to on both sides of the ball."

Currently, Noah Geselbracht has 746 passing yards and Van George with 519 passing yards are ranked 3rd and 4th in the GCL. Van has taken control of the QB spot with Noah being out for health reasons. Jordan Marshall is 2nd in rushing with 294 and Brandon White and Tennel Bryant are ranked 3rd and 4th with a combined 654 receiving yards. On the defensive side, Joe Ginnetti leads the GCL in tackles with 49 total tackles.

They are looking to make a playoff run and are preparing for their games week-by-week. This week they got a tough game against Lasalle and look to improve their record to 5-1.
