Moeller Baseball 2022 Season Recap
Moeller Baseball had a remarkable season during the 2021-2022 year finishing at a successful 29-3 record. They were ranked at number nine in the country by Max Preps, a website that specializes in high school sports.
This team had an incredible 13 players continuing their baseball career at the collegiate level. The Crusaders batted .307 as a team with 238 hits and 232 runs in 32 games. They finished 8-1 in GCL (Greater Catholic League) play winning the league with ease. Moeller went on to defeat Springboro in the district finals, which allowed them to move on to Regionals. Unfortunately, the Crusaders were defeated by Mason High School in the regional finals. However, that did not define the amazing season the baseball team had.
Max Tramontana (22) was a big part of the Crusaders success while he was on the mound. Max threw not one, but two no hitters in the span of one season. After reaching out to Max while he is starting his freshmen year at Iowa, he agreed to give his personal input on the Crusaders’ past season saying, “Obviously we didn’t end the year the way we wanted to, but overall I thought it was a really good season. We were top 10 in the country and won the state poll, which indicates a good season. It just wasn’t our day in the regional finals but overall a very good season.”
Max went on to explain the team’s strengths that contributed to the successful season, “Our team was successful this past year not necessarily because of a specific strength, but more for the lack of weaknesses. We had a good offense and defense, and also great pitching. Tie that together with the team chemistry we had and that was the reason for our success.” Lastly, Max said his favorite part of the season was “the trip to Myrtle Beach. The team bonding was great and winning games makes everything better.”
The Crusaders are looking to repeat another successful season and take home a state championship. The team is going to have fifteen returning varsity players who will provide a great deal of leadership and experience on the team. They are taking on a tough schedule this upcoming season including traveling to Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas to compete against some of the best schools in the country. Do not let those Crusaders get hot this year and if they do, watch out! They will be on a revenge tour.
