Player Spotlight: Colsten Spelman
Moeller Cross Country had a great season this year. The JV team recently won second place during the team’s trip to the McQuaid Invitational in Rochester, NY. The Varsity team placed 13th out of 35 teams in one of the most competitive races for high school in the country. The Crusader caught up with Moeller Senior Colsten Spelman, a member of the cross country team.
Crusader: What is your favorite cross-country memory?
Spelman: My favorite Moeller Cross Country memory would be just recently when our top 28 runners took a trip to Rochester, NY. Seeing Niagara Falls for the first time was a great experience, and I am glad I could share that with the team.
Crusader: How do you view your role on the team?
Spelman: I believe that my role on the team is to help be a senior leader and to bring the whole team together to reach their full potential every day.
Crusader: How did you get into cross country?
Spelman: I got into Cross Country in 8th grade when I ran for All Saints. One of my older brothers, Cannon, also ran during junior high and ran all four years for Moeller. My freshman year, he encouraged me to be on the team as he was also one of the two Senior Captains for the team that year.
Crusader: What do you think is in store for the team in the future?
Spelman: Our future looks strong, especially in our current sophomore class runners. We have several guys already established top runners on varsity. The recent addition of Coach Russo, who is Moeller’s athletic director, is also helping out the team.
Thank you to Colsten Spelman for taking the time to talk with The Crusader!
