Moeller Volleyball: Final Stretch!
Moeller volleyball is close to wrapping up its season with only six games left to play.
There are two GCL match-ups still to come, one against Elder Friday, April 21 and another against La Salle on Tuesday, April 25th. The Edler game is cancer free kids’ night, and there will be raffle baskets and split the pot to raise money for kids who are battling cancer. It is also grade school night.
With a record standing at 12-3, and 2-2 in the GCL, head coach Lee Meyer looks to make a far run in the tournament. Junior Dom Schutte, backrow, spoke about the goals for the last 6 games of the year. “Obviously the goal is to win the state championship at the end of the season, but right now we are taking one game at a time, starting with this week against Elder at home.” Dom has stepped into a big role this year, and his contributions have been great for the team.
Junior setter, Ben Marcum, now has had two years of varsity experience, after being on varsity last year and winning a state title. He is a key player on the team no matter what position they have him at. He is a vocal leader on and off the court and truly believes his team can trust him during these final games and heading into the tournament because he’s been in this position before. Ben explained “I’ve been in this program for two years now and I know I put the work in on and off the court that way my team believes in me.”
Make sure to try and pop out to as many games as possible for the last stretch of their games. I know against X on April 21, there was a great crowd with great energy. It’s always good to support our brothers. Good luck to the rest of your season boys!
