Moeller Football Turns the Corner

The Moeller Crusaders are 2-3 so far this season and are looking to reach .500 on Friday against the LaSalle Lancers. Moeller started off 1-3 and got a huge victory against the St. Xavier Bombers last Friday night in Dayton.

Moeller has shown lots of improvement in the last two games against Center Grove and St. X. Moeller lost to Center Grove in overtime on a two-point conversion attempt that failed. Moeller played one of their best games so far in Center Grove but came up just short. The Crusaders played great offensively and were locked back and forth with the reigning Indiana state champions Center Grove Trojans.

Last week the Crusaders’ defense led the charge with a touchdown and five forced turnovers. Alex French, who scored the defensive touchdown and two fumble recoveries, said, “We really came together as a team.” Alex was proud of his guys and was pumped to beat St. X . ”We are not stopping here; we are going to continue to get better and better.” Moeller looks to face the rest of the GCL south in the next two weeks, and they are hungry to go for the sweep.

However, Moeller still must face the reigning state champions, the undefeated St. Edward Eagles, and this will be the biggest test of the year for the team. Moeller lost to St. Ed’s last year in the regular season 6-0. It was a great defensive battle, but the Crusaders are ready to get revenge and beat the team in week 9.

The Crusaders are continuing to improve after every game and are starting to hit their mid-season stride. The defense has looked the best it has all year, and the offense is beginning to take off.

Led by senior running back Jordan Marshall, who holds the record for most yards and touchdowns in a season, the Crusader offense looks to continue the great play of football coming in the next weeks.
