Leaving a Legacy, Moeller Basketball

In the last 10 years, Moeller basketball has sent over 12 players to play Division I basketball. Currently, there are ten Moeller basketball players in college, with eight of them playing at Division I schools. The list includes Alex Kazanecki, AJ McBride, Brady Franz, Kyle Havens, and Eric Mahaffey, etc....

Last year, Moeller sent two seniors to play college basketball, Alex Kazanecki and Brady Franz. Kazanecki is currently playing for the University of Delaware and is playing forward. Brady Franz is playing forward at coker university. Currently they both have no status so far this season.  

Eric Mahaffey graduated from Moeller in 2024 and now plays for the Akron Zips. In his senior season at Moeller, he averaged nearly 9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He is a sophomore at Akron and was injured most of his freshman season but is expected to play a big role once he returns.

Evan Mahaffey graduated in 2022 where he was a finalist for Ohio Mr. Basketball, GCL Player of the Year, Ohio Player of the Year, and was a three-star recruit. He originally committed to Penn State and played 34 games as a true freshman. Evan returned to Ohio for his junior and senior year playing for Ohio state but transferred to Akron to play with Evan. In 2024-25 he averaged 3.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 67.1 % from the field.

Yoro Diallo graduated from Moeller in 2022. He was selected to the All-GCL team in both soccer and basketball at Moeller. He now plays college basketball at Winthrop Eagles and is a junior. His career averages are about 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.

Max Land graduated from Moeller in 2020, where he led the team in scoring with 14 points per game his senior year. He originally committed to Saint Francis. As a freshman he started 17 games and averaged almost nine points per game. After his junior year he transferred to South Alabama where he started 9 games and scored 10 points per game. He is now a redshirt senior. In 2024-25 he averaged 10.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game at South Alabama

AJ McBride graduated from Moeller in 2024, where in his senior season he averaged 6.5 points per game, appearing in 24 games and starting 14. He now plays for Niagara Purple Eagles (Niagara University, NY). He is now a sophomore. In the 2024-25 season as a freshman, he appeared in 2 games, averaged 1.0 point and 1.0 rebound in 8.2 minutes per game.

 

Aidan Noyes finished his senior season at Moeller in 2022, he committed to the university of Richmond and later transferred to Belmont Bruins. He redshirted his freshman year at Richmond, then appeared in 27 games over the next two seasons. He is now in his senior year.

Alex Williams is a senior at Duquesne. He graduated from Moeller in 2021, where he led the team in scoring with 15.3 PPG. After Moeller he committed to Furman, where he spent his first three seasons of college basketball. During his time at Furman, he averaged 8.3 points per game and 13.2 points per game in his junior year. He is now a graduate senior at Duquesne. In the 2024-25 season he averaged 13.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

Logan Duncomb graduated from Moeller in 2021 and was a McDonald’s All-American nominee his senior year. He committed to Indiana University, where he played 9 games each season during his two years there. For his junior year, he transferred to Xavier He then transferred to Winthrop University. He is now a senior and currently averages 3.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

Kyle Havens was part of Moeller’s 2024 class and started for three years at Moeller. He committed to Madonna university in Michigan. So Last season, he appeared in two out of three games for Madonna, playing 5.5 minutes per game. He is now a sophomore.

Moeller basketball has also produced NBA talent, resulting in popular names such as Jaxson Hayes and Deuce McBride, Jaxson, a 7’0 center, has been playing for six years in the NBA and is currently playing with the Los Angeles Lakers. Drafted out of the University of Texas, Hayes is a 2018 graduate from Moeller and won a state championship in his senior year along with star studded guard, Deuce McBride who is currently playing with the New York Knicks. McBride has been dominating off the bench this season averaging 12.5 points per game and has been reliable for the Knicks and is becoming a front runner for sixth man of the year award.

Moeller basketball has left a legacy that impacts not only the fans but the players and coaches. By sending players to college each year, it shows the Crusaders’ dominance and how the players want to continue the Moeller tradition by creating a winning environment that impacts all.
