Moeller Swimming

The Moeller Swim and Dive team finished the year at 6-3. They recorded their first 2 wins of the season after the first 2 meets and then recorded their first loss in the 3rd meet. They did not let this loss drain them, as they went on and outscored their opponents in the 4th and 5th meets, making their record 4-1. The team’s schedule then went on to some tournaments with many schools, and in the first one, the Upper Arlington Winter Showcase, they finished 2nd place out of 5 total teams. This was a good run for the Crusaders as they received the runner-up reward. They then went on to another tournament, the St. Xavier Invitational, and finished 3rd out of 11 teams. This was very impressive for the Men of Moeller, as St. X is one of, if not the best, teams in the state. After some time off of single meets, they went back into action, going 2-1 and making their record 6-2. They finished off 6-3 after losing to St. Xavier and came 2nd in the GCL. After GCL, they went on to one more tournament before the state tournament and placed 4th out of 37 teams. This gave the Crusaders momentum going into the state tournament. They placed 2nd out of 8 teams at sectionals and went on to districts and finished 3rd out of 24 teams. This was enough to get the team into the OHSAA State Championship, where they ended their season coming in 9th place out of 50 teams. The Crusaders could not get the job done, but they capped off their season in a good spot to continue their work this upcoming season.

2024-2025 Moeller Swim Team

There are a couple of swimmers to watch out for in this upcoming season. One particular swimmer is Noah Spivery. He, Ryder Hicks, Evan Preissler, and Jake Karulf finished 12th in the 200 Medley Relay. He was a key role in helping the team place 9th in the state for swim last year.

Head Coach Jonathan Bennett states “We graduated a good number of seniors but still have some returning guys who know their role, and they will continue to be good for us.

Key Game: St. Xavier
I think when we play St. Xavier it will be a huge adrenaline rush for our guys, and it should be a good one to watch for the fans and spectators. St. Xavier has been one of the top teams in the state every season, and the Crusaders will be fighting to finally take them down. It’s definitely going to be a fun one, and hopefully that new freshman that the Crusaders brought in (Gabe Trujilo) will be able to help the team advance past X.
I think we will place 6th in state. Last year we placed 9th in the state, which is pretty impressive considering we didn’t have a lot of depth on the team. This year the leaders will be Noah Spivery, Gabe Trujilo, and Alex Held. It’s looking bright for the Crusaders swim team this year.
