Moeller Baseball 2026 Preview
During the spring, baseball is always a hot topic at Moeller High School. From the storied history of the baseball program to the recent success of the team, this school gets extremely excited for baseball when spring rolls around. But it isn’t just the school that gets excited; it is the players as well. Adam Holstein, an outfielder on the team says “Being a senior makes this season special. Having the opportunity to lead the team, after building relationships with these guys over the past four years, makes moments like senior day even more meaningful because of how much we’ve grown together as a team.”
But one thing going against the team this year is their youth. They graduated seventeen seniors last year and only have seven returning this year. From this comes a lot of inexperience. “I actually think having a lot of younger guys on the team is a big positive. They’re eager to learn and they come out every day working as hard as they can because they want to make a good impression on the coaches. They’re very open to feedback and really willing to grow. As a senior leader, it’s been a lot of fun to help teach them things, and it’s great when they genuinely want to learn,” Adam also stated.
As always the ultimate goal for the team at the end of the season is to be hoisting up the state championship trophy in Canton after a dogpile on the mound. The team knows that it will not be that easy to achieve this goal. When Adam was asked what the biggest challenge would be for the team, he said, “Just learning to stay calm under pressure. Like I said before, we have a young team, so it’s important for those guys – and even for us seniors who haven’t played in many big games – to take a deep breath and let the game slow down instead of trying to do too much.”
Something that has been said as the team’s biggest challenge this season is their lack of experience. The Crusaders return only about 20 innings of pitching and just two starters from last year’s lineup. Despite that, confidence is not lacking in this team. The players know they have been working hard and are determined to prove themselves as the season unfolds. Their ultimate goal remains clear: win a state championship.
