Moeller Baseball Facilities
Moeller baseball looks a lot different than it did six years ago. The team went from having no field and minimal facilities to having arguably the best high school facilities in the state. With a beautiful all turf field, and a brand-new indoor facility, the Crusaders can maximize their practice time. In the past, the team would have to practice at school on a football field or in the worn-down AC baseball cages. The team might of only have been able to get on a real baseball field a couple of times before their first game. Now with the new indoor facility, every day the team can get in work and prepare for their games each day. Another advantage the team has with the turf field is the fact that weather is rarely an issue. No amount of rain the day prior or any time before practice influences the field. Adam Maybury, Moeller baseball outfielder, says that the practices are much more efficient and productive. He also touches on the fact that Moeller can get much more work in than other teams. Often, teams must cancel practice due to weather. If there is a day where the weather is bad, the guys can go inside their multi-million-dollar indoor facility and get great work in. Many teams also have a hard time distributing facility space between teams. The Varsity team uses the indoor facility on days where they share the field with freshman or JV. Also, varsity will go inside of days where they need to get lots of swings. The team can get a lot of swings and get great work in. The indoor facility significantly enhances the team’s offseason as they are able to get lots of work on those cold winter days.
