Constructive Music Conversations Are Happening in Contemporary Poetry

Justin Claypool’s Contemporary Poetry class has been talking about songs and lyrics this semester. In order to connect this topic to the theme of “constructive conversations,” students had to address a music genre they personally dislike. Students created panels based on their music preferences and then presented their ideas to the rest of the class. Three genres were covered: Country, Alternative Rock, and Classic Rock. Students then chose one panel with which they disagreed and created an engaging and open-minded interview wherein they modeled “constructive conversations.”

Seniors Sam Klosterman, Chase Wessendorf, and Griffin Gaspar all recorded outstanding interviews. Take a listen!
