UFC
The UFC stands for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It incorporates all aspects of martial arts, and fighters have to be well rounded in order to win. The UFC has different weight classes, and the number one fighter of each weight class is the is the champ and has a belt. The next top 15 fighters after the champ are ranked based on how good they are, and who they beat. Fighters can also move up or down weight classes and try to become double champs. The fights are on Saturdays, and they have multiple people on them. The ones that are called cards are the fights usually with a champ vs a high ranked contender, and fight nights usually don’t have as many ranked fighters on them. The fights are split up into main event, prelims, and early prelims. The fights are 5 minutes long and split up into either 3 rounds or 5 rounds. The fights end in knockouts, submissions, or they go to decision at the end of the last round.
The UFC is very entertaining, and I love watching it, especially with my friends. But watching it is very annoying. Majority of people that watched it used illegal streaming platforms because it cost a lot of money to watch the main fights. You would have to have an ESPN+ subscription, then you would have to buy the main fights after. They recently switched to Paramount, and the fights are way more affordable to watch. The first one on Paramount was UFC 324, and it was great. A lot of the prelims were pretty good, and the main card was great. The main event, Paddy Pimblett vs Justin Gaethje was great, and I was so happy to see Paddy dismantled and battered by Gaethje.
None of the UFC cards or fight nights have really been boring completely. Obviously not all of the fights are good, and there are some let downs, but there are usually fights that are great on almost any card. The upcoming card of 325 looks to alright, and the two main fights should be really good. The UFC is my favorite thing to watch, and I love talking with my friends about all of the potential matchups in the future, or if we didn’t agree with who won the fight. The UFC is also going to have an event at the White House, and they are planning on stacking it up with a lot of champs and high ranked fighters, and I am very excited for that.
