Moeller Baseball on Track for Great Season!

Moeller baseball is on top again and ranked eleventh in the country going into the spring season! Ever since losing to Mason Comets in the Regional finals last year, the team has been working diligently to win a championship this year.

Moeller baseball has been a historic baseball program cranking out some big names such as the Barry Larkin (Cincinnati Reds), Ken Griffey Jr (Cincinnati Reds, Mariners), and Brent Suter (Brewers, Rockies). In addition to having phenomenal players, the baseball program has won many championships (2009, 2012, 2013 and 2015) and have won or shared nine conference titles. Since 1999, the team has won three state titles and have been to four states final fours.

Moeller Baseball players Dax Heilman, Nolan Krekeler, and Toby Hueber shared their thoughts on the upcoming season. “We have a positive outlook and don’t plan on losing many games this year,” stated Krekeler. Heilman added, “We have a lot of experience and a good team comradery which can lead us in the right direction as a team.”

Hueber a George Mason commit needs only 14 more stolen bases to capture the career stolen base record for the historic Crusader program. “I am looking forward to adding my name to the history books not just for stealing bases but for having the most career wins as a varsity pitcher.” Hueber said.

This year’s team could be one to remember. Eighteen players are already committed to play at the collegiate level next year, thirteen are going to D1 schools and five to D2 or D3. There are still many players who are undecided on where they want to play baseball. This is amazing for the program as they continue to pump out many collegiate baseball players. Last year, the team had many players that are currently playing in college at schools like Ohio State, Iowa, and Louisville.

As well as having great players, Moeller’s program was recently blessed to receive a brand-new baseball field through the donations of Dr. Kremcheck . The new field is next to the historic Loveland bike trail and was opened last March. This is Moeller’s first ever baseball field, and it is nothing short of spectacular!

Due to all the hard work the Crusaders are putting in during the off season, they are bound to have an excellent season ahead of them!
