Moeller Chess Club
Do you enjoy strategy? Outsmarting opponents and taking home the win?
Then Chess club is for you!
The Moeller Chess club is back in full swing here at Moeller High School, and here is everything you need to know about it. The chess club is run by Mr. Conlon and Mr. Palumbo who are avid chess players themselves. The chess club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, and everyone is welcome to join them in Room 308 if you want to play a couple of games. The chess club is all about fun so don’t worry about not being the best player. Jack Regruth, a member of the chess club, says that it’s very fun, and his favorite person to play against is Mr. Palumbo because he’s a very good player.
If you yearn for a more competitive environment while you play chess, or just want to play against kids from other schools, there is a chess team that competes in the winter. Players on this team would compete against kids from other schools in the region, such as St. X or Roger Bacon. But, if a player is good enough, he could compete in the state tournament or even nationally.
Make sure to stop by room 308 after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays to see if you have what it takes to get a checkmate.
