MND/Moeller Band Overview
The MND/Moeller Band is a combination band between the two schools. These musicians play at games and concerts throughout the entire school year.
During the fall, students can participate in the MND/Moeller Marching Band. They perform at football games and bring the electric energy that everyone feels at the Moeller games. They put on a show using electronics, sound systems, dance, guitar, flags, keyboards, singers, and more. They also compete in local competitions and pep rallies.
After football season is over, the band transitions to the concert band. The two main events for this are the Christmas and Spring Concerts. There are also smaller exclusive groups that are formed as a part of the Honors Band classes. These students have been growing in number, skill, and reputation. They have performed all over the country in Washington D.C., Chicago, New York City, and Boston.
There are also some extracurricular opportunities throughout the school year. These include Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Winter Guard. Jazz Band concentrates on a diverse range of cultures and music, and is described as, βthe most truly American style of music,β by the official MND website. Pep Band is a fun group who plays rock and pop music to hype up the stands at Moeller and MND basketball games. Finally, Winter Guard is an extension of the Color Guard, and they perform in the fall with the Marching Band.
Any student is welcome to join the band, regardless of instrument talent. The busiest time of year is the Marching Band season, at the end of summer and fall. In the middle of July, Band Camp is held at Wright State University, followed by two intense weeks of practice at Moeller. Even if you play a fall sport you can still be in the band. The MND/Moeller Band brings the energy to every game and pep rally, and they are super underrated!
