Freshmen and Sophomore Game Nights Provide Opportunity for Bonding for Underclassmen

Games nights for the freshmen and sophomore classes will be held on Friday, October 6th for freshmen and on Friday, October 13th for sophomores.

These game nights are a great way for underclassmen to meet students they may not already know. The cost is only $5, which will cover pizza and drinks during the event.

The Crusader sat down with Mr. Campbell to learn more about the upcoming game nights.

The Crusader: When did you start this activity? What made you want to do game nights?

Mr. Campbell: We started Game Nights last year (2022) to gather the freshman class, build the brotherhood, and to promote The Marianist Spirit. Many parents stated that their sons did not get to know their classmates until junior year when people can drive and go on an overnight retreat—these nights allow them to meet their classmates and have fun in a positive environment.

The Crusader: What type of games will be played here?

Mr. Campbell: We have everything—basketball, cornhole, dodgeball, football, ultimate, video gaming, ping-pong, spike ball, can-jam, pickleball, and cards to go along with great food and great company!

The Crusader: What is the goal of this activity?

Mr. Campbell: Being a Marianist school means that Moeller is always trying to help students build friendships and community that lasts the test of time and will be carried with them as they go forward—even years after they graduate from Moeller!

The Crusader: Are there any games you enjoy the most?

Mr. Campbell: What I love the most is that at school students only meet a small percentage of their classmates. Through a sport, club, or ministry, they will meet some more. This evening brings a large group of their class together to get to know each other in a non-threatening and fun environment and allows them to meet many more people from their class.

The Crusader: Is there anything different about this game night from the past years? If so, what?

Mr. Campbell: The school has started a Pickleball Club and it has become extremely popular, so we will have AC hopping with Pickleball this year! Otherwise, it will just be a great night to make and grow friendships in the classes of 2027 and 2028!

Thanks to Mr. Campbell for sharing more about the upcoming game nights! All freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to attend!
