Matthew 25 Ministries

Matthew 25 is a nonprofit organization that helps aid and support families and people in crisis or when natural disaster hits. They collect donations that range from clothes to medical supplies to food.

Matthew 25 was started in 1990 by Rev. Wendell Mettey, and since its inception, has grown from a small charity to an international relief organization. The organization sends pallets of clothes, food, medical supplies, and personal care products to those in crisis. Their website states that “Matthew 25 has sent more than 275 million pounds of aid across the United States and into approximately 70 countries worldwide.”

Moeller students have been working with Matthew 25 Ministries for several years. Volunteering at Matthew 25 allows students to earn community service hours as well. Students can sign up to volunteer, and from that point on, a student can go to the Cincinnati location, sign in, and help! As a volunteer, you will do a variety of tasks depending on the needs of the organization at the time of your visit. You might collect and sort donations into boxes, or you might open and sort new products that companies have donated.

Senior Colin Swallender visits Matthew 25 every B schedule day as part of the community service class. Swallender said, “Service at Matthew 25 is fulfilling and rewarding, knowing that the work is helping people in crisis receive aid quicker.”

Overall, Matthew 25 is a great way for Moeller students to earn their service hours and help out the local and global community. You can learn more at their website: Matthew 25: Ministries - HOME | Matthew 25: Ministries (m25m.org).
