Movie Preview: Creed III

The highly anticipated Creed III comes out today, Friday March 3rd, 2023. The previous installment was released in November 2018. Fans of the franchise have been waiting a long time for this.

If you missed the previous blockbuster films, here’s a recap. Creed I was released in November 2015, and followed the story of Adonis Creed, played by Michael B. Jordan, who sought out Rocky Balboa’s help to fill his father’s shoes. Rocky agrees to help the young Creed and sees much of his father in him. The film follows his boxing journey through his big title fight against Ricky Conlan, which ends in a win for Creed.

In Creed II, the title character is still fighting and getting better. The film explores another connection from Rocky’s past: Victor Drago. Creed must face Drago, the son of Ivan Drago, who killed Creed’s father in a boxing match. Rocky advises Creed to not take up the fight as he fears he will have the same fate as his father. As with the previous movie, there are a couple training montages leading up to the big fight. It comes down to the very end, but Creed pulls out with the win.

Creed III is expected to pick up where the previous film left off, with Creed continuing his journey as a boxer. The new film delves into Creed’s past, introducing a friend turned enemy in the character of Damion, played by Jonathon Majors. Dame is a prison boxing prodigy who thinks he should have a shot in the ring and challenges Creed to a fight. Creed is once again forced to defend his title.

Creed III is playing now only in theaters and IMAX across the country.
