Band Showcase with Tyler Jones

The Moeller Band travelled to Ohio State in February for the OSU Percussion Festival.

The band participated in the festival, performing two pieces on Saturday. Tyler Jones was one of the band members in attendance. Jones played the timbales for one piece at the festival and the chimes for the other.

Jones said the Percussion Festival “wasn’t really a competition, more so a showcase of different high schools in Ohio playing different types of pieces with a bunch of different instruments as well.”  

The festival provides an opportunity for bands from across the state to showcase all of their talents with certain instruments. This is also great exposure for Moeller’s band.

Jones said the band arrived in Columbus Friday evening and then attended the opening concert at OSU at 7pm. Saturday, the band had the opportunity to watch the morning performances before it was their turn to take the stage. After the band performed around 1pm Saturday afternoon, they were able to enjoy the festival and additional performances from other high school bands. Jones added, “Unfortunately, our pieces weren’t chosen to be performed again, but we had a fun time watching the rest of the performances and just hanging out with each other over the weekend!”
