Hitting the Slopes: Moeller's Ski Club

Picture yourself outside on a sunny winter day, gliding down a hill at 10-20 miles per hour, the wind on your face and rushing by your ears. Imagine the rush of adrenaline you would feel. Moeller Ski Club provides the opportunity for student skiers of all levels to experience this on the slopes at Perfect North.

Moeller Ski Club isn’t just about learning how to ski and having fun; it’s all about building skill and developing as skiers. The ski club practices six times a month and races three times. The Crusader talked with Senior Nathan Dibert to learn a little bit more about his experience with the Ski Club. Dibert is currently in his second year with the club.

Crusader: What made you get into skiing when you were younger?

Nathan Dibert ‘24

Dibert: Ever since I was a kid, I have always loved the snow. Occasionally, my parents would take me out to Perfect North to ski. Over the years, it has really grown on me, and it is something that I love to do now.

Crusader: Why do you enjoy skiing so much?

Dibert: I really like the adrenaline rush that I get when skiing down the hills. I also like the competitiveness that comes with skiing.

Crusader: Can you share some of your personal best accomplishments?

Dibert: For Moeller Ski Club, we don’t have records; we have placements. For me, I am getting better for every race that we have. Some of my best placements are top seven and top five. I know this is just the start, and I hope I can continue to get better in the long run.

Crusader: Are you thinking about furthering your skiing career in college?

Dibert: This is probably something that I will continue to do as a hobby for the rest of my life. Hopefully I can continue skiing for a long time, but for college, I am planning on getting a business degree and going on from there. I will ski as a hobby for as long as I can.

Thank you, Nathan, for sharing your experience with The Crusader! Good luck in the future with skiing.
