Club Spotlight: Pickleball

Pickleball being played in the AC.

One of Moeller’s newest clubs is the recently added Pickleball Club.

The Moeller Pickleball Club has been active for roughly four months. They have tournaments, with the most recent one being a Christmas party/tournament combo.

Mrs. Herron is the Pickleball Club faculty advisor, and she invites anybody who is interested to come give it a try. Pickleball has both athletic and social components, and that combination is really great for Moeller—students get to meet new people and enjoy some light competition at the same time. Mrs. Herron and the club are looking forward to welcoming new members and having more tournaments in the future.

The Crusader talked to Mrs. Herron to get some information about Pickleball Club.

Crusader: What got you interested in starting this club?

Mrs. Herron: My son Jude and his friend Braden were interested in starting this club at Moeller and thought it would be a very social sport, even if the students haven’t played before.

Crusader: How has the turnout been so far?

Mrs. Herron: Sixteen to twenty students showed up throughout the months of September through December every Wednesday from 3-4:30 in the AC. We have done about fifteen practices so far.

Crusader: What is your goal for the club?

Mrs. Herron: The goal is to be social and bring students together as a whole. It is an easy sport to pick up, and we welcome anyone who wants to come try! At some point, I want to invite the MND girls to play as well.

Crusader: Do the students like the Pickleball Club, and why do you recommend it?

Mrs. Herron: Yes, students love it! We had a Christmas party tournament with prizes. There is no pressure on anyone—just come and play. I recommend it for anyone who wants to have fun and meet some new students.

Thank you, Mrs. Herron, for sharing your time with The Crusader! Good luck in the future with the Pickleball Club.
