Eveslage House Wins Crusader Games!
Every year at Moeller, each of the six houses compete against each other in different events and activities. By performing well in each event, houses earn points that accumulate as the year progresses. At the end of the year, the house with the most points wins the Marianist Cup.
The activities that earn points can be athletic events like house basketball and house soccer, academic like house trivia, or artistic like the chalk mural.
The Crusader Games is the last event before the Marianist Cup is awarded. Because this is the last chance for each house to earn points, the games can be very intense and filled with emotion. What makes the Crusader Games so special is that it isn’t just one game but ten separate events testing a wide variety of skills including intelligence, athleticism, and strength.
The events are the following:
Ping-Pong
Dodgeball
Tug of War
Chess
Gladiator Challenge
Home Run Derby
Cornhole
Scooter Race
Sack Race
Super Smash Bros
Most games are held at different places around the school, but the gladiator event, sack race, scooter race, tug of war, and the dodgeball finals are all held in the gym with all students and faculty in attendance.
The final house scores were as follows:
Eveslage came in first with 42 pts, Zaragoza came in second with 40 points, Pillar and Quiroga tied for third with 39 points each, Zehler came in fifth with 32 points, and Trinity came in sixth with 25 points.
It was a very tight race this year coming down to the final event, but in the end, Eveslage came out on top taking first place in the Crusader Games. Despite the Crusader Games victory, Eveslage still fell short of winning the Marianist Cup, which was won by Zaragoza House.
Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to Eveslage House on the victory!
