What is it that teachers love about Moeller?

Moeller is a special place for teachers and students alike, and some teachers, like Mr. Wellen, an English teacher, return to Moeller because of its many appeals. But what are some of these reasons people speak of? What benefits apply to different positions? And what do some of the teachers sacrifice each day to be here?

After interviewing 5 different teachers, teachers think they have a pretty good idea. People like D Wills and Mr. Leugers, an engineering and Environmental studies teacher, says one of the main appeals of working here is the Brotherhood and just being able to do fun things and connect with the students in a meaningful way, through things like Mentor Group and MoeGate.

Many teachers also wanted to be something else before they came here. An example of this would be Mr. Bennett, an English and Oral Communications teacher, who wanted to go into business and advertising, but decided that he hated selling and was not very good at it. Mr. Wallace, the design and build teacher, also wanted something else, as he wanted an art education, and got his degree in graphic design, and his major in media design. He intended to do something like woodworking, which he did for a time, or some other creative field as he is a naturally creative person. He says that he has the ability to be just as creative at Moeller because of all the resources we have in the Design Build lab, things like the laser, the 3D printers, and the tools we have.

Even with many teachers wanting something else, Moeller just appeals to a lot of people for a place of work; teachers hold a high level of respect for each other and have good expectations for their students. It's also just a place of friendship and a place of family among the teachers, as well as the students, plus there is no hate between teachers... There is also a feeling of importance within Moeller, as every subject and class is held in the same regard, as being just as important as the next.

A lot of teachers, also may sacrifice important things to be at Moeller every day, a good example of this would be Mr. Wallace. He drives an hour each way to get to Moeller every morning, just to have the opportunity to teach here. He says that he’d; “rather drive one hour to a job I love, than 5 minutes to one I hate.” others also may sacrifice more time with their family, friends, or a lot of their free time to be teaching at this school, and have the opportunity to use all the resources we have here.

It is very clear that a lot of teachers really want to be here, with a lot sacrificing their time, or just wanting to be a part of the Moeller family, and be able to give to the kids who go here.  In general, Teachers seem to love the environment their peers create as well as the students, so it must be a special place to many many teachers among us here.
