Senior Breakfast

The senior breakfast held just outside the front doors of our school was one of those simple moments that turned into something unexpectedly meaningful. The early morning air was cool, and the rising sun gave everything a calm, golden glow as we gathered in the parking lot. This morning was so special because It gave us a chance to relax before our graduation day.

There was a wide variety of breakfast foods laid out. Boxes of donuts in all flavors, warm breakfast burritos, and other items that made the morning feel relaxed and informal. People moved around, grabbing food, and talking to friends old and new. What made the morning truly special, though, were the conversations. Everywhere you looked, small groups had formed, each one talking about the future. People shared where they were going to college and what they planned to study. There was excitement, but also a sense of uncertainty. The Moeller brotherhood comforted eachother in knowing that they will always have a group of guys to count on.

Along with talk about the future, a lot of the conversation naturally turned to the past. We shared memories from freshman year, laughed about awkward moments, and reminded each other of things we had completely forgotten. Stories about teachers, sports games, school events, and inside jokes came up constantly. Talking about freshman orientation was my favorite. I was an awlward freshman with little friends but that day was a turning point for me.

I talked with several guys who I haven’t always been friends with but in this moment we all connected on the same level. School had gone by so fast I hadn’t realized that there were guys I haven’t talked to since sophomore year.

Next year will be full of new things and new opportunities. Our lives will change forever and we must look toward the future. But, I know there will always be a home at Moeller.
