Steve Schuette Leadership

Over the past year our school captains have helped lead Moeller. Today we hear from school vice-captain Steve Schuette will talk about what he has learned over the past year, what his plans for the next 4 years are and what advice he has for the next group of school leaders.

Something Steve wants to tell are incoming freshmen and the next group of Great Moeller leader is  “The most important virtues for a leader to have are reverence and enthusiasm. Have fun with your friends when its time to have fun, and do it with enthusiasm. You don’t half-ass hard work, so don’t half-ass fun. But also be reverent when its time for important things. The ability to enjoy yourself in the time you have, while knowing the time and place to be serious will not only benefit you, but will affect those around you”.

Steve’s favored memory of leading this past year is “Freshman Retreat. It was great to see the diversity of leadership across the Senior class, and to see what the youngest of Moeller’s leaders were going to look like. We not only got to have fun among the leadership crew, but we also got to introduce ourselves to the freshman class and get to know them better.” this really impacted Steve and showed him why he picked Moeller as his home for the past 4 years when asked what have you learned from this past year through his leadership Steve said “I’ve learned to take things a lot slower, and to not worry so much about little things. You always are going to have to make hard or quick decisions along the way, but if you think, pray, and don’t stress about it, it will all work out. Every time I’ve had to take direct leadership this year, I also realized how much more willing people are to work and succeed if the leader they are following isn’t constantly worried about them failing.” this helps him chose United States Military Academy (West Point)  for his school next year

Steve’s plan for the next four years is to attend the United States Military Academy (West Point) to study Civil Engineering  with the goal of commissioning into the Army Corps of Engineers or the Airborne infantry during his time serving our country.
