Before I was a student at Moeller, I bounced around a few different schools. I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up on the East side. I started going to GA for the first part of grade school and grew up going to church there with my dad. I soon left and went to Locust Corner elementary in New Richmond, before eventually finding myself at Bethel-Tate after third grade. I grew up wanting to be an astronaut because I loved space. In my eighth-grade year I started running across country after being too bad for my club soccer team. I shadowed Moeller and Covington Catholic, deciding to go to Moeller the day of registration. I realized I was not too bad at running so I would keep doing it for high school.
By being at Moeller, I have been able to take part in various things. Starting my freshman year, I was in the cross country and track teams, but I also joined clubs like the Molecular team, German club, etc. I got to deliver the afternoon announcements for my sophomore year and also got involved in some campus ministry and service-based things. This led to magnified giving my junior year, which I got to win a grant for a local nonprofit. After my junior year I went to Montana with Moeller to learn about the mountains and local living out West. During my senior year I got to go on a service trip to Guatemala, finished my Capstone on molecular biology, and narrowed down my post-Moeller plans to attend college.
My favorite Moeller memory was my first X game. I was a short freshman at the back of the student section, yet the entire section was going wild. As I had never experienced something like that before, I was just taking in the crazy environment. When we scored the final touchdown to win by three points, people started throwing water and confetti around like a party. I was so excited to be a part of the culture and environment, and it made my first Moeller football game unforgettable.
After Moeller I plan to run in college while pursuing a degree in law. I have narrowed my choices down to being a walk-on athlete at Dartmouth, Wake Forest, or being recruited to run at Iona University. I see myself most likely going to Wake as they have a direct internship with Congress in D.C. I hope to keep running after college and do Marathons, living somewhere in DC or Boston and raising a family. In college, I also plan to start a service club to volunteer in Guatemala like Moeller does.
Regarding Moeller student-life, there are some topics I would particularly like to write about for The Crusader. The first topic I would write about would be the senior edition and superlatives. This would highlight where students are going to college, why, and something they plan to do after Moeller. The second topic I would write about would be a student vote of the most popular “Moe-ments” throughout the year. The top three would be described and written by students, for students. The third topic I could write about Moeller is the student and faculty opinion on new things brought to Moe, like IDs, and Moeterm. This brings me into my fourth, writing about MoeTerm. I think it would be interesting to learn about what everyone experienced and how they rated it. My fifth and final topic to write about Moeller would be interviewing the freshman on what they have liked in their first year at Moeller and why.
For the journal, I would like to be a writer. I best like this role as I want to bring life and humor into the journal. By reading old editions of the journals from the 1990s and early 2000s, and by being friends with students who work for their respective school newspaper, I think I would enjoy highlighting things from the eyes of a Moeller student, for the Moeller students. With this in mind, however, I like photography and would like to be able to send in some photos for the journal on top of writing.
