Academic team matches consist of teams of four, that usually head to head. There are three rounds, the first round each team gets a question, then there is jeopardy style question. Whoever buzzes in first gets to answer the question. The second round is the alphabet, for example a question would start with A and all the answers would start with A. The last round is the lighting round, where you have 30 questions. In the format where the reader can be stop at any time be either team, but if you don’t get the answer correct the other team can hear the rest of question.  The category of questions range from fine arts, mathematics, history, and chemistry.

Mr. Mike Ward believes, “this team has punched above their weight class.” Last year’s team was unbelievable, finishing fourth in the region, they graduated a lot of talent and leadership. This team has stepped up and taken charge of their season. Still undefeated, the team’s weapon, TJ “the Hammer” Cracas and teammates, Greyson Wesley, Nate Steffan, and Hunter Haas are looking to continue this undefeated record going into league play.

The league is composed of sixteen teams and two divisions of eight teams. The teams are randomly selected into their division.
