Coach Ross Lifts his New Brand to New Heights
Moeller had just gained a new weightlifting coach, Ryan Ross, a few years ago, and he has helped Moeller sports do well during the season. Everyone knows him for being the weightlifting coach, but did you know he began a clothing brand with his brother? It is called Will Ryse, and it is something big for Coach Ross.
This clothing brand includes workout clothes such as sweatshirts, t-shirts, compression shirts, shorts, pants, and jackets. Will Ryse has a “So what, now what” mentality, which Coach Ryan Ross described, “So what, now what, comes with my struggles to get through stuff that I don’t feel like doing, but it gets me to push through and get it done.”
I was told by Ryan Ross, that the idea behind the brand was inspired by his brother. Coach Ross explained that he was motivated by his brother who has struggled through mental health issues, and the brand is to give his brother and other people who struggle with everyday problems, hope. Coach Ross is looking forward to taking the business to new heights. Currently, Will Ryse is on a website Rokkitwear, and Coach Ross explained that he has hopes that the company can become big enough so that they can have their own website and manufacturing.
So far, this upcoming business is on the rise. Their Instagram has hundreds of followers, along with a Tiktok that reached 600 views. Coach Ross explained to me that, “We are trying to grow a base, build the brand, and also having it reach more people. We are trying to figure out new ways to advertise and stay true to what the company is and what we stand for.”
They have sold close to 2,000 dollars’ worth of clothing and plan on creating an emphasis on reaching not just athletes but younger people who are involved in some sort of active lifestyle, possibly those who find themselves dealing with daily struggles and even facing mental health issues. Coach Ross said, “It’s not just a fitness brand, it’s also just a way that people can deal with hardships.”
Coach Ross said he had written down on a piece of paper what he wants the company to be, and the words he wants the company to be associated with it and the message. He gave it to a graphic designer, and they came up with the logo and designs. On the logo, the mountain represents obstacles, the sun rising symbolizes hope and the path climbs the mountain. Coach Ross explained his view on it and said, "The sun shows the path through the mountain, you don't try to go around it, you try to go through it."
