Moeller: A Business School
Moeller High School produces businessmen. Moeller offers a variety of different business classes, including but not limited to Principles of Marketing and Business Applications/Excel. These classes range from College Preparatory, honors, to College Credit Plus, and really set Moeller apart from other high schools.
Mrs. Susan Bailey (Recipient of 2019 Moeller Teacher of the Year) teaches many of the business classes at Moeller and describes Moeller business students as, “Adaptive and ever changing in the Marinist way”. I believe regardless of profession a Moeller graduate is provided with the necessary education and community that forms a man of integrity and proper business attitudes. I feel Moeller provides students with intelligence and progressive business understandings.
Moeller provides the proper technology for students to prosper in business. This includes a digital stock ticker screen located in Mrs. Bailey’s room and much more. Moeller provides computers and an opportunity at Excel Certification that allows Moeller’s prospective business students to succeed.
In an interview with Mrs. Bailey I learned just how beneficial the personal finance lab can be, “Moeller offers the Personal Finance Lab, which I feel is extremely helpful for students when learning investing and general investment strategies.” The Personal Finance Lab is offered to students taking the finance class or taking a part of the Finance and Investment Club. Overall Mrs. Bailey is a perfect example of how Moeller provides an amazing experience for young Moeller students that are interested in business. Moeller creates intelligent business students through her many business courses she teaches using the technology provided to gain momentum in the for-ever changing world of technology and business.
In talking with Moeller graduate Tyler Totin '18, I learned exactly what it means to be A Man of Moeller in this field. Tyler is currently a sophomore and studying Finance at Miami Oxford. Tyler was involved in multiple business courses at Moeller, and feels this really gave him that competitive edge compared to other students. When approached with the question of where Moeller students go and why Tyler says, “The majority of my classmates went into finance or accounting; I feel like teachers like Mr. Ward and Mr. Bauer really prepare you for a college level course load.”
One thing that he feels really helps a Moeller student adjust to college life is the block schedule, because in business school you don’t have the same class every day like the traditional high school. Tyler thinks that the Marinist charism are seen throughout any Moeller business student through there virtues and ethical business practices. Overall learning about this truly proves just how much Moeller pushes men to succeed in the business field. I think this further proves how much Moeller embeds a good ethical, and intelligent student for business.
In the future, the Men of Moeller can expect many business improvements. Moeller plans to build amazing extensions to the school that cater to Moeller students in their pursuit of business. One improvement includes the largest student run endowment fund in the United States, where students will be able to control investments and provide Moeller with growth of the endowment. Moeller also plans to add a massive addition catering towards entrepreneurship, where students run a merchandise company. These improvements prove to me just how adaptive Moeller is and the future Moeller has in store. I plan on attending business school in college and I really think that Moeller has properly prepared me to find success
