After graduating from Madeira High School, where he now coaches’ football, Mr. Nicolas Wainscott went to study biology and environmental science at Northern Kentucky University. He then went to become a chemist for two years at Thermo Fischer Scientific as a Analytical Development Chemist. After those two years, he soon figured out this job was not for him. Wainscott explained that he wanted to interact with more people, so he went to the University of Xavier to get his education degree.

He first appeared in the Moeller hallways in 2019 as a student teacher working under Mr. Alex Thompson (AKA Mr. T), a Biology and Anatomy teacher here at Moeller. Wainscott helped teach anatomy. He explained that the students were the reason he wanted to be a teacher. Wainscott said, "It’s been awesome, that’s why I came back. You guys made me want to come back".

As Wainscott is nearing the end of the third quarter of his first year teaching, he has had only good things to say. He described the Moeller in a unique way that perfectly describes our school. Wainscott stated, "I really like the atmosphere here, it's not just a regular school where all you do is school and nothing else. It's fun". One of his favorite memories from his time at Moeller so far has been attending Moegate.

Wainscott said what’s impressed him most about Moeller is that he can teach and actually build relationships with the students. He can get to know the students on a personal level and really try to make a difference in their lives.

When Wainscott was student teaching with Mr. Thompson, they really got to know each other. Mr. Thompson said that Wainscott “immediately got along with the students. He knew how to get along with the students and build relationships.” Mr. Thompson said Wainscott really knows his stuff and described his teaching style as knowing where the students are and letting them kind of guide the class.

It was a fortunate coincidence that Mr. Wainscott ended up returning to Moeller after student teaching. Mr. Thompson had explained that when he applied there were more spots opening up for a biology teacher. Out of all the people who got interviewed and submitted applications, Mr. Wainscott’s application was just that much better than everyone else’s. Mr. Thompson had described it as a “slam dunk”.

Griffin Booth, a student of Mr. Wainscott, described him in three words. Griffin said, “Nice, layed back, and he knows what he’s talking about.” Griffin also liked how Wainscott knew how to joke in class, but also keep the class engaged and on task.

Mr. Wainscott will go on to continue to teach Biology and pick up a few Chemistry classes next year.
