The Fifteen Year Wait Is Up: Moeller's Athletic Field is Being Redone!

A New Year’s resolution came early for Archbishop Moeller High School Athletics with news that the backfield is being redone!

After waiting a long fifteen years, Moeller’s dream has come true. Starting on January 2nd, Motz Turf Farms came to Moeller in hopes to make the multipurpose field as good as the football field.  The goal is to redo the turf and update the Moeller logo. Currently, the turf is torn up and Motz Turf Farms has laid down the new platform for the updated field.

The backfields are used for many purposes and sports. These include soccer, rugby, lacrosse, and occasionally baseball. Other uses include house soccer, house events, and pep rallies. On these fields, Moeller student athletes work hard to achieve their goals. Not only is this update good for our athletes, but also redoing the backfield attracts people from the outside, specifically future Moeller Crusaders and their families.

This is a big upgrade, especially for the Moeller soccer team. Moeller Junior and star soccer player Bradley Poppell shared his thoughts about the renovation, “I am extremely excited for the new field, and I think with it we will be able to attract more players to attend Moeller and join the soccer program.” After a successful junior season leading the Moeller soccer team to a state semi-final, Poppell hopes to do it again next year and win state. With this new field, Moeller Soccer and other programs will be able to hold more home games, as soccer only head two home games last year. More fans will attend to support and cheer on all Moeller Athletic Programs.

I have been a part of the Moeller soccer team and home games are very special. The past few years we have held most home games at Deer Park, and Moeller is excited to be able to have home games return to campus. Not only will soccer be grateful, but lacrosse and rugby too.

Archbishop Moeller has made many improvements in the past few years. The AC, locker room, baseball field, football turf, classrooms, and now the other backfield. This is just one improvement for the future of Moeller. There are many more to come and we should all be excited. The future of Moeller is bright, so be sure to keep up with all the sports and activities going on.
