The Giving Season is Here: Canned Food Drive Kick-Off
Anticipation is buzzing through the school as the canned food drive gets underway!
The annual food drive is not only a great cause but a competition among houses. Houses with the most boxes get points towards the Marianist Cup. Mentor groups across the school set their own goals, but it would be great if we could achieve 100% participation across the school.
You might be wondering, does this help our community? Absolutely. The boxes we make are donated to St. Vincent de Paul and St. George Interfaith Food Pantry with the mission of providing food for families experiencing food insecurity. Some of these agencies will have supplies for several weeks from our donations. It’s not too early to think about the issues facing some of our local families and realize that a little effort from all of us can make a difference. In the long term, this helps teach the values of philanthropy and taking care of each other to all Moeller students.
Each box should contain the following:
2 cans of fruit
1 box of flake potatoes
2 cans of pork and beans
1 box of cereal
2 cans of vegetables
2 cans of tuna
2 cans of spaghetti & meatballs
1 jar of peanut butter or beef ravioli
4 pack of toilet paper
1 deodorant (male or female)
1 small dish soap (place in a Ziplock bag)
1 shaving cream.
Please do your part to help and donate supplies. Mentor groups can bring money and have a trusted adult go out and get the supplies, or you can buy your own and bring it in. Either way, everything is appreciated, and everything goes towards a great cause AND the Marianist Cup!
