Chaminade Global Scholars

We’ve all been in the awards assembly and heard the achievements of those students who are Chaminade Global Scholars, but what exactly does it mean to be a Global Scholar?

Archbishop Moeller High School’s Chaminade Global Scholars Program offers high-achieving students an opportunity to conduct an in-depth study on a global issue. The Chaminade Global Scholars Program seeks to combine a deep knowledge and understanding of the world we live in, with a wisdom and compassion that implores each student to find their calling in response to the world’s many needs.

The Chaminade Global Scholars Program provides a diverse and experiential academic environment that takes education beyond the classroom and immerses the student into the global village. A global scholar is informally translated as an internationally learned person in academic and multidisciplinary matters. The initiative is a platform designed to bring together globally acclaimed institutions and students through educational services, shared communication and future connections. The program is designed to engage students in practical experiences and investigate a wide range of themes and questions in three core areas: awareness of and proposed solutions for global issues, cross-cultural skill-building and an understanding of others, and exposure to global business challenges and investigating best practices for success in a global world.

The Chaminade Global Scholars Program highlights five fundamental characteristics:

◦ Provide an integral, quality education;

◦ Educate in family spirit;

◦ Educate for service, justice, and peace;

◦ Educate for adaptation and change.

General Requirements

◦ All participants must maintain a GPA of at least 3.7 (unweighted) to remain in the program;

◦ All participants must perform service hours beyond the general requirement for the student body;

◦ Students will be directed to participate in programs that focus on solidarity, social justice, service, and global awareness;

◦ All participants will be tracked for Honors, Advanced Placement, and College Credit Plus courses during all four years.

Early College Planning

◦ Enhanced Career Exploration Group: Sophomores can participate in a small group counseling program designed to enhance career exploration, identify interests, and explore college majors.
