Mom Prom '23 Takes a Tropical Turn
This year’s Mom Prom was held on Sunday, March 12, 2023. It was at the Manor House where the senior and junior prom is usually held. This year, the Mom’s Club included a dinner buffet from 6:30 to 7:30, and then the actual dancing and activities from 7:30 to 9:00. This year’s theme was tropical, so there were a lot of Hawaiian shirts and leis.
Mom Prom has always been a part of Moeller since the addition of the Moeller Mom’s club. It is a special time for students and their moms to have a good time together and have fun at a dance with their sons. Just like the Moeller fashion show where moms and their sons can model different outfits down a runway, Mom Prom is intended for moms to spend a fun, organized evening together with their sons. It also gives a better chance for moms to bond and get to know other moms amongst the Moeller family. It is put together to strengthens the special bond that moms and their sons have and hopefully create impactful, lifelong memories down the road that these moms who participate can look back on.
Since the theme was Hawaiian, it was only fitting for the Manor House to serve up some Hawaiian dishes. Some of the food included pulled pork sandwiches, bread rolls, Hawaiian fried rice with pineapple, and an assortment of other dishes. After everyone was done with dinner the evening activities picked up. There was a dance floor where the moms and their sons could dance and there would later be a Limbo contest and hula-hoop contest that moms and their sons could also participate in.
It is safe to say Mom Prom was a success and that all the Moeller moms and sons had a great time this year. I am sure all the moms are excited for what kind of theme and dance there will be next year!
