National Honor Society Induction Ceremony

Moeller’s National Honor Society held their annual induction ceremony on Sunday March 5. Over 120 students and their family members packed into the student commons to experience this special event. The event was led by moderator Dan Shannon, NHS President Stephen Adams, Vice President Cris Mollaun, and Treasurer Tommy Stines.

Members of the National Honor Society lead by example. They are selected into the program based on their academic achievements, leadership roles, and service given to the community. The National Honor Society application is open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. These 128 students are in the program for a good reason as they work to be good role models for the school and the community.

The induction ceremony opened up with prayer, the national anthem, and a speech from Moeller President Marshall Hyzdu. Next, Stephen Adams welcomed everybody and got the ceremony going by expressing the significance of being elected into the National Honor Society.

The members then were called up to receive their certificate. The new members of the class of 2025 were called first, followed by the classes of 2024 and 2023. Along with receiving paper certificates, seniors also were honored with their honor cords and pictures with their parents. National Honor Society seniors will get the privilege of wearing these honor cords at graduation in May.

After members were called up, the current National Honor Society leadership team announced the new leaders for next year. These new leaders were voted in and selected from the current members. Ethan Hawryschuk was voted to be president, with Dominic Bosco as vice president, and Tanner Coe as treasurer.

Each of the new leaders made a commitment to lead and serve the National Honor Society and the Moeller community. The event then closed with everyone coming together to sing Moeller’s Alma Mater.

The National Honor Society is also looking to incorporate fundraising events in the future that may include a spikeball tournament, grub day, and Chipotle. Make sure to be on the lookout to participate in these future events.

Finally, as we start the fourth quarter, the National Honor Society offers tutoring for students who need it. If you are looking for additional help before the school year ends, email any of the National Honor Society leaders or Brother Flaherty.

Congratulations to all members on their hard work and service to Moeller and the community!
