It's Nerf Wars Season!

It is that time of year again!!! NERFFFFFF WARRRRRSSSSSSSSS!!!!

This year is bigger and better than before, with over forty teams and hundreds of kids playing for the grand prize of thousands of dollars.

Each week, teams strive to make it out alive and move onto the next week. The goal of Nerf Wars is to survive and most importantly……ADVANCE!

Round one of Nerf Wars started last week, with mainly juniors playing for the chance to move on and play in the actual tournament. Seniors have a bye-week, so they have another week to prepare and gather nerf weapons to compete against other teams when it is there turn.

Last year, a senior team won the championship in back-to-back years. Their team consisted of the Nolan Holley, Matt Meyer, John Shannon, Ben Lindeman, Jake Peddicord, and Corey Herkes. Some people say they used GPS trackers and others say they were just flat out good. Their team planned out everything and executed at a high level. Will teams this year take their strategy or will they come up with their own to win? We shall find out…

Toby Huber team has a high expectation for his team this year. He says, “We are coming for that booty. If we don’t win, then we won’t know what to do with ourselves. Our team is completely dedicated to winning this and everyone is willing to sacrifice something to win.” Toby and his team sound like they are all in it together. It is important that everyone is playing as one because one person can make a difference in a team’s success.

Carter Yox of “Team Yasons” believes that they also have a chance of winning as well. Their team consists of Yox, Eli Turner, Dwight Turner, Drew Mitchell, and Jason Henning. Yox’s expectation for this season is also very simple. “Do not get out, do not get shot, and to get more kills than the other team. Survive and advance.  I like our chances this year.”

When asked about teams to look out for, Yox said, “We need to look out for Toby Huber’s team because they made it to the final four last year. As well as Grant Smethwick’s team. I am excited, but it will take everything we got.”

Nerf Wars is an exciting event and upperclassmen are excited about this year’s battles. It is a way for the seniors and juniors to have fun while putting a cap on a great school year. Remember to stay safe and always be on the lookout so you don’t get out. Have fun and happy hunting!
