Innovation Hub Updates
As many members of the Moeller community know, the next phase of the Raise the Shield program is getting underway. The Moeller Innovation Hub is set to break ground this summer before the 2023-2024 school year.
For those who are unaware, the Raise the Shield campaign was started back in 2019 with the implementation of the 2.0 classrooms that completely changed the way Moeller students were taught. But now, after the completion of the new commons, band room, and athletic complex, the campaign chairs are ready to embark on the school’s newest venture.
Moeller’s Innovation Hub will be designed to upgrade Moeller’s already experiential learning and critical thinking to enhance faculty and student relationships. With the addition of new technology, art, engineering, and business classes, the Innovation Hub simply sets the standard for a new age of a teenager’s high school learning experience. Although some of these courses are already offered here at Moeller, this new space is designed to spark new ideas in a place specifically tailored for those topics. For example, the business wing of the building will host a variety of different monitors and computers related to the stock exchange, even including a circular hanging ticker board.
None of this could’ve been done without the generosity of the community and alumni network that has improved in the past years. The Raise the Shield campaign has grown the school’s endowment so that rising freshmen from around Ohio who wish to receive a Moeller education can get one, even if it might not seem possible.
Moeller alumni and veteran teacher, Derek Williams (91) says, “I think the Innovation hub will be great for the future culture of Moeller. A new place to enhance the school's learning environment is always a great thing, and a focus on these specific subjects will greatly impact our student body.” Coming from a teacher who has seen the building change drastically throughout his career and life, the tide has certainly turned for the future of the school.
As the ongoing process of this summer comes to commence, the environment around Moeller will be greatly impacted. In the next year and a half, the changes around the building will be well worth the wait as the betterment of the students will be changed forever.
