Honoring a Legacy: The Jack Quehl Scholarship

Moeller Highschool is proud to announce the making of the Jack Quehl Beyond the Boundaries Scholarship. This scholarship was created by Jack’s friends and family to honor the legacy of someone who inspired not only his classmates but also the faculty and staff at Moeller.

Jack Quehl, a son, brother, and friend, made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Born on June 22, 1997, he was passionate about sports and academics, excelling at Moeller High School where he played football and was recognized as a National Merit Scholar. Jack continued his journey at the University of South Carolina, graduating in 2020 and joining the Venture for America program, ready to make his mark in the world.

Jack's life was cut short in September 2021 due to an accidental overdose involving fentanyl. His family chose to celebrate his spirit at his visitation, encouraging attendees to wear sports jerseys, reflecting Jack's love for athletics. The support was overwhelming, with friends and family coming together to share stories and laughter, honoring the joy he brought into their lives.

In Jack's memory, his family and friends established the DOITFORJACK Foundation, dedicated to preventing similar tragedies and ensuring that Jack's legacy of curiosity, kindness, and laughter continues to inspire others. Jack's story serves as a huge reminder of the impact one life can have on many, and his spirit lives on through the foundation's mission to promote awareness and support for those in need.

The Beyond the Boundaries Scholarship was established to financially support a Moeller student in pursuing enriching experiences, much like those Jack enjoyed during his travels to countries such as Germany, France, Brazil, Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia. Through these journeys, Jack gained a deep appreciation for cultures and a greater understanding of the world, which this scholarship aims to promote for future students.
