Head Strength Coach Zach Shaw Leaving

This winter, Moeller lost a pivotal part of the athletic staff: Zachary Shaw. Shaw was the head strength and conditioning coach for all sports.

Coach Shaw took another job opportunity at Brigham Young University (BYU). BYU has been a strong contender in the Big 12 Conference in recent years, launching careers for athletes like Zach Wilson, Taysom Hill, and Tyler Allgeier. At BYU, Shaw will assume the role of assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Before Moeller, Coach Shaw played collegiate football for Indiana University. At Indiana, Coach Shaw was a great player and an even better teammate, earning the title of team captain in 2015. Shaw came to Moeller three years ago after the departure of Ryan Ross, who took a job with the Pittsburgh Panthers. The success of both Ross and Shaw illustrate just how good Moeller’s strength and conditioning program is. Both strength coaches went on to continue their careers with great programs at the collegiate level.

Before Shaw, Moeller Football was struggling to gain an edge over its opponents. However, thanks to Shaw’s efforts and expertise during training, Moeller football has been exceling every season. Shaw was able to provide that extra push that the team needed, ultimately leading to three straight regional titles.

Zachary Shaw.

The Crusader talked with Coach Shaw about his upcoming job at BYU.

Crusader: What are you most excited about in this new opportunity?

Shaw: I am most excited about the chance to be able to push forward my career and try to get a better life for me and my family.

Crusader: How do you feel about leaving the Moeller family?

Shaw: I will really miss the Moeller family. All of you guys have been very friendly and helpful since the first day I came here. I had many of the Moeller Football players help me and my wife move into my house when I got here, and they were very helpful.

Crusader: How do you see this progressing your career?

Shaw: I hope this job will move forward my career in the direction of potentially getting a promotion either within the BYU program or getting hired elsewhere as a head strength and conditioning coach. Moeller helped me move my career in that direction because of the success that we have had through the years I have been here.

The Crusader thanks Zach Shaw for taking the time to talk to us about his new career. We wish him the best of luck at BYU!
