Mr. Hough Named Dean of Students for 24-25
Archbishop Moeller High School is going through lots of faculty changes for the upcoming year, one of which is the creation of a new Dean of Student Life position, which will be held by Mr. John Hough.
This new position will be focused on the overall experience of Moeller students instead of just disciplinary issues. The Crusader got a chance to talk to Mr. Hough and ask him a couple of questions about his new position as Dean of Student Life.
The Crusader: What does it mean to be the Dean of Student Life?
Mr. Hough: Fundamentally it means supporting everything at Moeller outside of academics and athletics—helping every student find his place so Moeller feels like home, whether that is in clubs, the house system, or campus ministry.
The Crusader: How has your journey so far prepared you for this position?
Mr. Hough: I have been lucky to have a lot of positions where I have worked with other people. As a community service director, I would get different teachers involved in activities. As a house dean, I got to work with mentor group teachers and students as I helped them plan out activities.
It is crucial that the person serving as the Dean of Student Life can work and communicate well with others, and Mr. Hough excels at both. Mr. Hough thinks very highly of his fellow staff members and praises them saying, “the teachers and staff at Moeller are incredible!”
Hopefully Mr. Hough will be here at Moeller for years to come as the Dean of Student Life. He said of taking on the role, “I couldn’t be more excited; I’m thrilled and ecstatic!”
Moeller will be in good hands for the upcoming school year!
