As Mr. Schaffer moves into the role of principal next year, Mr. Derek Williams will step into the role of Dean of Student Formation. This position will be providing support for all students at Moeller High School and will deal with student disciplinary issues.

Mr. Williams graduated from Moeller High School in 1991 and has also taught at Moeller for 21 years. Mr. Williams wanted a change, and the opening of this position came at a good time for him. With his son graduating this year, Mr. Williams felt it was the right time to move into a new administrative role.

Mr. Williams also felt that his experience with MCD (Marianist Community Development) will help him with the job as Dean of Student Formation. He is very excited to step into this new position but will not be giving up his passion for teaching. He plans to continue teaching one senior class next year and hopefully in years to come. So, underclassmen, rest assured you will still have the opportunity to see Mr. Williams in class!

My personal experience with Mr. Williams (or D. Wills, as we like to call him) has been amazing. He is a great mentor and a great leader for our school. The connection D. Wills has with his students on a personal level is incredible; he is not a friend but knows how to achieve the balance between teacher, mentor, and older brother.

Mr. Williams is the best fit for the job. His connection with his students and the young men at the school will be awesome. Speaking as his student, he has a special ability to connect with students and form meaningful relationships. Moeller’s student body is incredibly lucky to have him taking on this role next year.

Good luck to Mr. Williams as the new Dean of Student Formation in 2024-2025 school year.
