ACT Prep at Moeller

On February 27th, Moeller students will have a standardized testing day. While the seniors are enjoying a Tuesday off school, the rest of the men will be taking important tests. Freshman will take the Iowa test and sophomores will take a practice ACT. Juniors will take the official ACT, which is a standardized test often used for college admissions. For some, this may be the most important test of their high school career.

The Crusader spoke with Junior Brady Franz, a first-year student at Moeller from Texas, about how he is prepping for the ACT.

Crusader: How are you preparing for the ACT?

Students across the country are gearing up to take the ACT in February.

Franz: I have been studying with my twin sister and have been taking a course on the ACT as well. The ACT course has helped both me and my sister learn what we need to do to get a good score the first time.

Crusader: How important is this test for you? Do you feel well prepared?

Franz: This test is important to me, and I need a good score to get into some of my top schools I am looking at. I feel as if my sister and the course have helped me a lot, and I am well prepared.

The Crusader: What is your goal score?

Franz: I want to score in the high 20s my first time taking it. I am confident that I have the ability to score this. We will see how well I do.

The Crusader also caught up with Sophomore Danny Kelly about taking the practice ACT.

Crusader: How are you preparing for your test?

Kelly: I am using an ACT study book and taking advice from teachers and professionals on how to improve scores.

Crusader: How does this test differ from the real ACT?

Kelly: I am glad that we can take a practice test. We are able to use it to improve our scores when it comes to the real test. I think it is great that Moeller has us take this; it gives us the experience and knowledge to do better on the real ACT.

Crusader: What is your attitude going into this test?

Kelly: I am treating this as a real test. I want to set myself up to get a good score next year when it really matters. However, I am not going to lose sleep over it—it is a practice test at the end of the day.

Wishing the best of luck to everyone on their upcoming test and exams!
